U.S. Rep. Wally Herger’s announcement of retirement from the House of Representatives set off a flurry of political moves Tuesday, including state Sen. Doug LaMalfa announcing he’d run for Herger’s seat, Assemblyman Jim Nielsen saying he’d run for LaMalfa’s seat in two years and wouldn’t seek re-election this year, and Assemblyman Dan Logue announcing he’d run for a final two-year term in Nielsen’s district.
