LaMalfa, surveys show business optimism

CHICO — Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) feels many of his small business constituents are encouraged by what’s happening in the nation.

Information presented by LaMalfa Wednesday regarding a survey of his district’s small businesses reflected the same optimism that came from both a Chico-centric and statewide business surveys.

LaMalfa sent out a survey to business owners in his 11-county district, hearing back from about 80, who he believes on the whole are positive about the future.

Results of the survey were released Wednesday, during a congressional update from LaMalfa and a workshop by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Small Business Development Center at Butte College.

“Many business owners in the north state are excited about the potential for growth under the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and many are already beginning to expand operations and invest in their workforce,” he said at the start of the workshop.

“Three quarters felt things are starting on an uptick.”
