From Independent Women’s Voice
Contact: Hadley Heath

State Senator Doug LaMalfa, candidate for Congress in California’s 1st district, has signed The Repeal Pledge to undo ObamaCare.

“Doug LaMalfa’s decision to take The Repeal Pledge shows voters that, when it comes to health care, he gets it — he understands that ObamaCare’s individual mandate is an unconstitutional government infringement on our constitutional liberties, and he knows that if implemented, it will lead to more government and less freedom, will place government bureaucrats between doctors and their patients, and will limit patients’ choice and control,” said Heather Higgins, President & CEO of Independent Women’s Voice.

“LaMalfa’s signature on the Pledge indicates that if elected, he would do everything in his power to keep ObamaCare from adversely affecting the citizens of California, such as supporting federal legislation like the Save Our States Act, which takes a time-out on the implementation of ObamaCare until the legal challenges to the law are settled” added Hadley Heath, health care policy analyst at Independent Women’s Voice.

The Repeal Pledge advocates not just repeal, but defunding, deauthorizing, and dismantling the misleadingly-titled Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, passed in early 2010. The Repeal Pledge was designed as a litmus test to help the American public understand which candidates and office holders are serious about repeal, versus those who claim to be but won’t actually take action.

Signers of the Repeal Pledge believe that this law cannot be “fixed” and that stopping its implementation and ultimately repealing it are necessary first steps to ensure that citizens and their doctors, not government bureaucrats, have choice and control over their health care, and that medical care in our country becomes more affordable and available.

While the Repeal Pledge is designed for public office holders or those seeking public office, there is also a place for citizens to sign and express their solidarity with these principles.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, February 8, 2012

OROVILLE, CA – - Doug LaMalfa (R- Richvale) has received the endorsement of Gun Owners of America in his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, 1st district.

“Doug LaMalfa has always stood tall for the 2nd Amendment and the rights of gun owners and we are proud to endorse him for United States Representative,” said Tim Macy, Vice Chairman of GOA.

LaMalfa, a Richvale farmer, represents the North State in the Senate. He has a perfect pro-gun owner record in the legislature.

“This is a great endorsement. Doug is more than a reliable conservative vote, he is a leader willing to speak up and work hard for his deeply held beliefs and I believe conservative groups and voters recognize that leadership,” said LaMalfa’s campaign consultant Dave Gilliard.

Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a non-profit organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue.

GOA was founded in 1975 by Sen. H.L. (Bill) Richardson (now retired). Richardson continues to serve as the Chairman of Gun Owners of America, bringing his many years of political experience to the leadership of GOA. Richardson is also an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

LaMalfa is a conservative Republican running in the new First Congressional District, an area currently represented by U.S. Representative Wally Herger, who announced his retirement in January and endorsed LaMalfa.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, February 6, 2012

Oroville, CA – - Conservative Farmer Doug LaMalfa announced today that he earned the endorsement of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association in his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is California’s leading taxpayer organization and one of the most influential endorsements possible.

“Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association proudly endorses Doug LaMalfa for U.S. House of Representatives because he is a proven friend of taxpayers and someone we can count on to fight taxes, overspending and Government waste in Washington, D.C.,” said Jon Coupal President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.

Rep. Wally Herger announced in early January his plan to retire at the end of his current term and endorsed Doug LaMalfa for the seat. Since then, LaMalfa has gained significant momentum and support from local, state and national conservative leaders and groups.

“I am honored to have the support of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. Together we have fought to protect hard working families across California from tax increases and out of control spending,” said LaMalfa. “Our federal government is borrowing 43 cents of every dollar it spends. Washington, D.C. needs a dose of fiscal reality. America cannot continue on this path of spending and borrowing.”

Doug LaMalfa is a fourth generation farmer in the First District and the current State Senator for the area.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, January 12, 2012

OROVILLE, CA – North State farmer and State Senator Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) kicked off his campaign in the new 1st Congressional district today.

“I am honored to be able to stand here before you today and formally announce my candidacy for the United States House of Representatives,” LaMalfa told his supporters. “First I want to thank Congressman Wally Herger, not only for his endorsement of me, but for the years of dedication and for the dignity with which he served our area.”

LaMalfa said he would focus on protecting and expanding the job opportunities provided by the district’s timber, mining, water, farm and ranching industries, and reducing spending and waste.

“Crushing environmental regulations and rules need to be brought into balance with the real everyday needs of people,” said LaMalfa. “I have believed for some time now that Washington is out of touch with everyday Americans and especially with those of us lucky enough to live in the rural North State and rural America. One of my goals will be to make sure other members of Congress understand there is a whole world outside of Washington full of hard-working families trying to make ends meet.

“As your representative in Washington, D.C., I will work to: reduce the debt and balance the budget; reduce taxes so working families and small businesses can keep more of their hard-earned money; repeal unnecessary regulations that hamper our ability to create jobs; protect North State water rights and increase water storage throughout the state; and stand up for our conservative values of freedom, family, hard work and individual responsibility,” La Malfa said.

Doug LaMalfa is a fourth generation rice farmer. A lifelong resident of Northern California, Doug attended local schools and grew up learning the value of hard work and community service. Doug earned his degree in Ag/Business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He and his wife, Jill, along with their four children, make their home on the family farm in Richvale. His state senate district covers much of the same territory as the new first congressional district.
