Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association Standing With LaMalfa for Senate
Email To Friend    Print Version

Lincoln, CA  The Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association announced this week their endorsement of Doug LaMalfa for the Fourth Senate District.  The Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association is the latest in the long list of agencies and officials in the northern California law enforcement community to endorse LaMalfa.

"At first, we were not planning to get involved in this race, but after getting to know Doug this last year, there was no way we could stay out.  We were impressed by his record in the Assembly of supporting law enforcement and also with his down to earth demeanor," said Andrew Scott, Vice President of the Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association.  "If we want to see common sense come out of Sacramento, we have to elect common sense to Sacramento."

Sixteen current and former District Attorneys and Sheriffs from the Fourth Senate District have also endorsed Doug LaMalfa for the State Senate, including seven current District Attorneys and nine Sheriffs.

Current and former Sheriffs endorsing LaMalfa are: Colusa County Sheriff Scott Marshall, Del Norte County Sheriff Dean Wilson, Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones, Siskiyou County Sheriff Rick Riggins, Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko and Retired Sheriff Jim Pope, Retired Sutter County Sheriff Jim Denney, Tehama County Sheriff Clay Parker and Trinity County Sheriff Lorrac Craig.

District Attorneys endorsing LaMalfa are: Colusa County District Attorney John Poyner, Placer County District Attorney Brad Fenocchio, Shasta County District Attorney Jerry Benito, Siskiyou County District Attorney Kirk Andrus, Sutter County District Attorney Carl Adams, Tehama County District Attorney Gregg Cohen, and Trinity County District Attorney Mike Harper.

"I am fortunate to have the support of the Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association.   These public servants are on the front lines every day, keeping us safe, and I appreciate that.  I count them as new friends.  I look forward to working with them," said LaMalfa.

The 4th Senate District spans much of rural northern California including all of Butte County.  LaMalfa represented much of the district when he served in the Assembly and is well known throughout the area.  Doug LaMalfa is a fourth generation rice farmer and business owner who represented the Second Assembly District from 2002 through 2008. The California State Sheriffs' Association named LaMalfa "Outstanding Legislator of 2005" for his work in the Assembly.
