MOUNT SHASTA, CA – Many of Siskiyou County’s most respected leaders have aligned in support of former Northstate Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa in his bid for the California State Senate. 

Endorsing LaMalfa are Sheriff Rick Riggins, District Attorney Kirk Andrus, Supervisors Michael Kobseff, Marcia Armstrong, Jim Cook and Ed Valenzuela, former Supervisors Bill Hoy, Bill Overman and Joan Smith, Mount Shasta City Councilman Russ Porterfield and Police Chief Parish Cross, Weed present and former City Councilmembers Chuck Sutton, Jerry Broomfield, Mel Borcalli and David Pearce, Yreka Mayor Tom Amaral, Councilman Jason Darrow and Councilwoman Rory McNeil.

Mount Shasta businessman and County Supervisor Michael Kobseff noted LaMalfa’s active leadership throughout his Assembly tenure. “Doug has proven his leadership and capabilities as a representative to us in Siskiyou County. Everytime we turn around at local events, there is Doug. As a genuine servant of the people, he has a true heart for serving his constituents and will do the same in the State Senate.”

Commenting on the broad support from across the county, the former Assemblyman noted his numerous visits in Siskiyou County, “I’m blessed and grateful to have gained the friendship and earned the support of so many great people and leaders throughout the North State. I’ve strived to be the best representative I can be for Siskiyou County. Working with these local leaders whether from Yreka, Dorris, Etna, Mt. Shasta or so many other areas of beautiful Siskiyou, we’ve had several successes on local issues. I look forward to continuing the work with these leaders on the major challenges immediately facing us.”

The 4th Senate District spans 12 counties in northern California from Siskiyou and Del Norte on the Oregon border to Placer County in the south.  Doug LaMalfa is a fourth generation rice farmer and business owner who represented much of the district when he served in the Assembly from 2002 to 2008 and is well known throughout the area.
